| Additional Information |
This PWE Cairo leaflet was intended by Joint Operational Staff for the last days of the Axis evacuation of the city of Tripoli. It was addressed principally to those classes of Italian civilians who might have either be entrusted with demolition work or be in a position to hinder the carrying out of such worj by German or Italian Army demolition squads.
The real object was the prevention of demolition in the port itself; but that could not be stated openly, for obvious reasons. A previous leaflet (T.1) had therefore been dropped to direct through the port area a flow of refugees hoping for evacuation by ship: this was then followed up by this leaflet (T.6) and in turn was followed by "further action of a secret nature", which could only have any prospect of success if the ground had first been prepared.
Two verions were produced, one in three colours, the other in B&W and red. |
